The park derives its name from Tarangire River which crosses at its center. Tarangire National Park popularly known as the park of elephants, baobab tree that can handle up to three hundred liters of water and baboons, is located only 114 km, of good tarmac road from Arusha City.

Arusha Town – Drive to Tarangire National Park

Today we drive from Arusha, Tanzania, to Tarangire National Park for lunch. With a permanent water source, the park is virtually guaranteed enormous herds and excellent game viewing including cheetah, lion (some tree-climbing!), leopard and hyena and a herd of 3,500 elephants. The park is also host to a number of rare species including eland, oryx, kudu and gerenuk. Our accommodations are at Tarangire Sopa Lodge, a tranquil oasis overlooking the rolling plains. Overnight at Tarangire Sopa Lodge, Mbali Mbali Tarangire River Camp or Baobab Tented Camp or Similar

Tarangire National Park

Morning and afternoon game drives in the Park that offers wonderful panoramas of wide savannah grasslands dotted with open acacia woodland studded with large Baobab trees. Elephants can be seen in herds of up to 600 at a time, along with masses of wildebeest, zebra, eland, hartebeest, buffalo and oryx, who, migrate from the dry Masai steppe to the gleaming Tarangire River in search of water during the dry season. 550 species of birds have been recorded here. Also the park has Tree climbing pythons.

Tarangire National Park – Drive to Arusha Town

After breakfast depart by road back to Arusha arriving later in the afternoon.
